American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA)
Information, education and inspiration for all who appreciate contemporary botanical art. The ASBA is the parent organization for BAGSC. Links to ASBA Chapters and Circles can be found on their website, as well as a wealth of information about botanical art, galleries of ASBA members' artwork, and more. Offices for the American Society of Botanical Artists are generously provided by The New York Botanical Garden.
Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation
A research division of Carnegie Mellon University, The Hunt Institute specializes in the history of botany, botanical art and plant sciences. The Institute is a premier resource for artists, botanists, historians, conservationists, librarians, biographers and the public, and pursues the acquisition of contemporary botanical art and illustration.
In 1964, the Institute established the triennial International exhibition. At every International opening since 1995, the Institute has collaborated with the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), which has held their annual meeting and conference in conjunction with the International exhibition opening.
The Hunt Institute will host the 16th International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration in fall 2019 (dates to be determined). The exhibition is open to all botanical artists and illustrators working in any medium (except photography) on paper or vellum, whose work has achieved a standard of excellence and who have not previously shown in the International series. Artists wishing to be considered for the 16th International should download the 16th International Submission Guidelines PDF. Please read the submission guidelines carefully, and then complete and send the 16th International Intent to Submit Form via email or post by 2 February 2018. The completed 16th International Submission Form must be received via email or post by 15 June 2018.
ArtPlantae encourages awareness of plants through art, science and interpretation.
Founded in 2002 by BAGSC member Tania Marien, ArtPlantae began as an Artists’ Herbarium and newsletter. Today ArtPlantae in an important resource, supporting botanical artists, naturalists and educators
in formal and informal
learning environments with information about botany, botanical art, learning tools, and environmental education.
