About the Event
The California Botanic Garden is the largest garden devoted to California native Plants.
More than 6,000 species of plants are native to our state and many are found nowhere else on the planet. California has been declared one of 36 biodiversity hotspots in the world, defined as a place rich with life, but threatened by modern challenges, population growth, air pollution, urban development, and climate change. The California Botanic Garden is dedicated to conservation, growing knowledge, and appreciation of California’s natural heritage.
In addition to the Living Collection, The Garden’s California Seed Bank and Conservation program play a major role in securing the future of native plants. Botanical research as well as habitat restoration programs, are part of the work of the garden staff and graduate students at the Garden.
