During this three-day workshop, Vincent will explain his techniques to achieve the brilliance, transparency and depth of the watercolor medium. Choosing a botanical subject from his choice of Southern California autumn blooms, Vincent will demonstrate a range of his processes from stretching watercolor paper, drawing with pencil, researching his color palette, applying water and paint to paper, and setting final color and shadow.

The workshop will be held at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in the Botanical Education Center, Applied Tech Lab.
IMPORTANT—PLEASE NOTE: There is no food or drink allowed in the Applied Tech Lab. There will be a table outside the lab to leave lunches, coffee, tea, water bottles and any other consumables. Thank you for your attentive cooperation.

Parking and Entrance:
Parking is free at The Huntington. Please tell the guard at the front gate you are attending a workshop at the Botanical Education Center. You do not need to go to the front entrance of The Huntington. As you approach The Huntington buildings at the end of the parking lot, turn right and walk along the front of the buildings. Just past another guard gate is the Botanical Education Center. Go straight in and follow the signs to the classroom.

Glue block watercolor paper, 300 gr, Arches or Fabriano, Hot press, size 31x41cm or 36x51cm, or singles sheets to be stretched on board
2 sable brushes:
Raphael Kolinsky, #1 and #2, Series 8404
1 each white gum and crepe gum erasers
1 white porcelain palette
1 pencil, 2H or 3H

About the Instructor
Vincent Jeannerot lives in Lyon, France and studied at the National School of Fine Arts of Lyon. He has exhibited in Paris, London, Melbourne and Moscow, and runs international workshops around the world. He has published several books and exhibits in his own permanent gallery in Lyon. He is a member of American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), the Société Française d’Illustration Botanique (SFIB), and the Society of French Watercolorists (SFA).

BAGSC is offering this three-day workshop as part of a collaborative project with the Northern California Society of Botanical Artists (NCalSBA). NCalSBA will be offering its own three-day workshop with Vincent: "Painting Dahlias in Watercolor," Friday, October 25 – Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
The cost is $350 for NCalSBA members and $400 for NCalSBA non-members. The class size limit is 15 students.
Paid registrants to the Northern California workshop will receive a supply list, full workshop outline and workshop details.
