Registering for BAGSC Workshops
Click on the link provided for each workshop to see a detailed description, including costs, materials list, and the instructor's biography.
Workshops are limited in size, allowing the instructor to give personal attention to each participant. Membership in BAGSC is not a prerequisite to registering for workshops. Non-members are welcomed for a small additional fee. Please contact the BAGSC Education Chair if you have any questions about the skill level required for the workshop.
Become a Member and Enroll
If you are already an ASBA member, consider joining BAGSC as well. BAGSC membership is only an additional $15, giving you a discount on the current class, all the benefits of being a BAGSC member, plus the full discount for future classes and events. An added bonus is the camaraderie and being part of a great group of local, like-minded artists.
Not an ASBA member? Join ASBA and BAGSC and receive all the benefits membership can bring!
Payment and Cancellation
Workshops can fill quickly; registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment in full, online will reserve your place in the workshop, or you can send payment by check. Click on the "...class details" text; an online payment button for each class is located on the class details page.
If you need to cancel, please inform the BAGSC Education Chair as soon as possible. Please check the class listings on this page to see the "no refunds" date. Refunds will not be provided for cancellations after the date listed. Exceptions will be made if there is a waiting list. If another participant is available to take the participant's place, it is the responsibility of the registrant to make arrangements with their replacement.
If you would prefer to pay by check, please make the check out to BAGSC and write the instructor's name on the memo line. Please mail your payment in full to: BAGSC Workshop Registration, P.O. Box 50166, Pasadena CA 91115
Art Materials and Specimens
The workshop details page has a downloadable PDF of the necessary art supplies. Some instructors require specific art materials so they can show you their techniques; others may supply an optional list and encourage participants to bring the supplies they usually use.
Occasionally it is difficult to get various art supplies in the US. When that occurs, the instructor may bring "kits" to sell in class. Please order through the BAGSC Program Chair (listed in the class details) and bring cash to the workshop to pay for the kits.
Please bring a task light for lighting your subject (and your paints). Bringing an extension cord is helpful too.
BAGSC holds workshops at a variety of venues. Many have strict rules regarding parking, food, drink, clean-up, etc. Please adhere to the venue's preferences. We want to be invited back. Carpooling, of course, is always encouraged.
Photography and Video
Some instructors do not mind participants photographing or videotaping their lectures and demonstrations. Others feel it is disruptive to the workshop and the participants. Please check with the instructor before taking any photographs or video. Make sure to get separate permission if you intend to post, rather than simply keep for your own use. Never photograph, videotape, or post an image of a child without the written consent of their parent/guardian.
Have a suggestion for an instructor, technique, subject, or medium you would like to learn? Contact the BAGSC Education Chair.
